Bakunawa

Bakunawa is a legendary serpent-like dragon from Philippine mythology, known as the Moon Eater.

It is said that there were once seven moons in the sky. Drawn to their beauty, Bakunawa rose from the depths of the ocean and swallowed six of them, leaving only one behind. The eclipses we witness were believed to be the serpent attempting to consume the last remaining moon. In ancient times, villagers would beat drums and make noise to drive it away — fighting to bring the light back.
